The magic of hosting at home?

Private parties & Investing in your relationships

There are a few reasons why this topic makes sense to write about, obviously persuading you to consider booking one of our fantastic mobile bar services for your private party, would be one. Another reason would be that perhaps we are growing apart as a society, living life by the wire, one vapid transaction to the next, growingly in need of some authentic relations in our lives. These can be actions as simple as boiling the kettle for your friend who has stopped for a moment, that brief exchange of appreciation in the form of sustenance that goes so unnoticed, most of the time.

I think that the importance of domesticated, hospitable acts of graciousness is being lost & the tempting world of dopamine inducing, LED lit, influencer attracting burger porn is growing over our youth (and others) like an engulfing moss. If there can be some simple steps to take that lead us toward a society filled with respect and gratitude, they should be taken by those who realise it.

Last year, I was rushed off my feet at work with mobile bar events, Wedding events, Cocktail parties and more, so in a bid to maintain my relationships with my extended group of friends and family, I decided to throw a big summer garden party. I organised a slap up BBQ and a bucket of Champagne, invited all of my friends, cooked for everyone and polished the glassware. I was welcoming people into my home, that I hadn’t spoken to in months, who immediately felt like the most familiar faces in the universe – Arguably, you could say that these people were actually familiar, but I think something else was at play. The effort and organisation of the day, including the offering of a glass of fizz or beer on arrival, chairs set out in circles & a smoking barbecue, encouraged the feeling of being looked after, a feeling of safety. A feeling that a lot of people are longing for nowadays and one that you can muster out of thin air if you say the right things and create the right atmosphere.

Not everyone has the time to spend with the people they love, or knows how to ask them to spend time with them & I am one of those people. It’s really easy for relationships to slip apart and disintegrate, one month at a time when work, world news, drama, health issues and money troubles are all fighting for your attention. Easy, low cost ways of keeping yourself glued to your tribe are super important and it’s my job to tell you that hospitality is one of the most effective ways of doing that.

The act of inviting someone into your home, offering them a meal or something to drink shows that you care. Sharing your own shelter from the relenting world to offer a little bit of respite, in exchange for a strong bond, is a tale literally as old as time itself. Imagine a world where everyone felt like they had a home, or a place in the world and were able to feel solid on their own feet. Do you think that that person would be in a position to help and contribute more, or less, than someone who had never felt that reaching hand before?

Beyond the philosophical ideology of a good time, the reality of a good private party is now well within reach all thanks to the ever growing events and DIY party industry. Be it a decorative flower wall, a stretch tent for your garden or a mobile bar donning world class mixologists and IPA on tap, you can more or less follow your imagination around the internet & create the most illustrious and impressive private party you can afford.

It’s no coincidence that, seeing as I am the owner of a mobile bar company that just so happens to specialise in top drawer private parties, I’d suggest hiring a mobile bar to top off the celebration you are planning – But really, the impact of having specialised staff, a dedicated drinks area and literally nothing to do apart from mingle with your guests & make them feel welcome in your circle and at YOUR HOME, is second to none.

Take a little bit of time to consider and you may realise that it could be worth investing into your circle. Be the host, ‘build it and they will come’ as they say… and create some fantastic memories.
